Chapter Meetings

HLAA~WI is Wisconsin’s arm of the national HLAA organization. It is the state entity’s goal to disseminate information about hearing loss education, advocacy, training opportunities, etc. that are received from the HLAA national office; to provide an opportunity for HLAA chapter participants to come together to share information; and to provide HLAA members at large in Wisconsin who are not members of chapters to participate.

SHHH (Self Help for Hard of Hearing People, Inc….our organization’s former name), was founded on the principal that hearing loss would forever remain on the back burner if the people who have hearing loss did not come forward and make their wishes and concerns know. Today the organization, known as HLAA is considered ‘The Nation’s Voice for People with Hearing Loss’. We are still the ‘new kids on the block, but we have come a very long way since 1979 when SHHH was founded by Howard E. “Rocky” Stone in Bethesda, MD.

You are encouraged to become a part of the solution to the many problems that are common to people who are hard of hearing. The first step to becoming a part of the solution is to get involved. You are invited to do that. Your significant others are also welcome to attend our meetings. They are part of the problem and solution too.
