Get Involved!

The HLAA mission embraces the concept of achieving wholeness through education, advocacy and self-help. The organization is dedicated to the welfare and interest of people who do not hear well but are committed to participation in the hearing world.

We encourage you to participate in our organization by sharing your area of expertise and / or your enthusiasm for making Wisconsin fully accessible to people who are hard of hearing. Because we are involved in education, we need people who can do public speaking, writing, and facilitating.

Because we are involved in advocacy, we need people who understand the bureaucratic system and who are willing to serve on subcommittees that work to promote the welfare of people with hearing loss.

Because we provide the concept of self-help, we need people who understand the difficulties encountered by hard of hearing people, their families, and employers, and who are willing to learn more about hearing loss in general, about technology and about other means of achieving successful coping. In order to achieve the goals of HLAA, we also need people who have experience in fundraising, organizational development, hearing healthcare, and personally coping with hearing loss issues.

HLAA-WI is always looking for people who are willing to help at projects and advocacy, and for those who may be interested in special trainings. Leadership gatherings are held twice each year and a state conference is held every other year. If you or someone you know is interested in participating in HLAA-Wisconsin in a leadership or committee role, please contact Julie Olson. You will find her information down below on this page.
